We service all computers from Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista however we don't fix Macs.

We believe there is a big market out there for small jobs and understand that people don't want to be paying an arm and leg for a small job like broadband installation, with that in mind you'll find that our prices are very affordable and competitive and once i give you a quote there will be no hidden costs or fees.

 

Every job is different and the following are just guide prices, This will give you a guide as to what to expect, after looking at your pc i will be able to give you a quote of how much it will cost to fix before starting. Minimum Price is €25.00 for offsite jobs.

 

Virus and/or Spyware Removal €39.99

This includes removing the virus,fixing the damage the virus has done to the computer if possible and putting free programs in place that will ensure that your chances of getting future viruses are reduced. Unfortunately since viruses can be activated by opening files, virus and firewall programs alone cannot guarantee no future infection but with these programs your chances of catching another one is greatly reduced. We will also update your computer with the latest patches for windows which patch security holes that viruses and spyware take advantage of to gain access to your system. With most viruses it actually doesn't take that long to actually remove them, most of the work involves running several types of detection programs which scan every file on your computer and can take several hours to complete depending on the size of your hard disk which means i usually take the system away with me so i can have the scans running while i do other work which allows me to be able to offer you such a good deal to fix it.

Setting Up & configuring of a New PC €39.99

Just bought a new PC but don't want the hassle of putting it all together. I will assemble the pc and connect all the correct wires and hardware and install firewall's and all the spyware and virus detection programs that will make your pc ready for internet use without having to worry about viruses or spyware as well as update all the new patches for windows which plug security holes that can be used to attack your pc through the internet.The only thing you'll need to provide is the table to put it on and also don't forget that most pcs require 2-5 plugs especially if there is printers and scanners with it so you may need to buy an extension with 4-6 plugs on it. Please be aware that Broadband Installation is not included in the price. We will also install all the latest drivers for your hardware and software which will prevent future problems from occurring as well as solve current problems.

PC Maintenance & Tune Up €30.00

If your pc is running slow it may be for a couple of reasons, sometimes the programs you are running are too powerful for your system, sometimes viruses may be causing it but in some cases especially if the computer did run faster when you had it first, we can tweak the settings to make the computer run faster. When getting a pc tune up we will install all the latest patches for microsoft, install programs we recommend to protect you against viruses and spyware, remove programs that are unnecessary and wasting space and run some maintenance programs that improve the performance of the pc including removing unneeded programs that run at startup which often cause the computer to slow to a crawl for a period of time after startup as they all hog the pc resources trying to unnecessarily all try to run when windows starts. Bare in mind though that most of these tasks can be ran yourself so it might be worth googling pc tweaking and seeing if you can complete the tasks as well Also as i mentioned already it can be other factors that cause the computer to run slowly such as trying to run XP or Vista on a computer that doesn't have the required specs and in cases like this upgrading memory can often be a much better choice and is actually quite cheap, tweaking and maintenance however can still provide a welcome boost to a pc that has become slow but just to be aware that its often something else that is causing it. I will know after looking at the pc whether a tune up will be beneficial or not or if the problem lies somewhere else.

Because one of the processes we run takes 1-3 hours i usually take the system away with me so i can have the process running while i do other work which allows me to be able to offer you such a good deal.

Broadband Configuration €25.00

We connect all the necessary cables and configure the modem so you can connect to the internet. Also we will secure the modem so your neighbors cannot use your modem to connect to the internet via a wireless connection. Allot of people don't realise how many people have unsecured networks, the simply don't realise they need to configure the modem settings to protect their network, some people don't care but don't forget that if someone is using your broadband at the same time your only getting 50% of the max speed and it can be become very slow if they are downloading not to mention that they can get access to any files in your shared folder. You might think this is a bit far fetched, its not, get any new laptop which has a built in wireless adapter (almost all new laptops have) and drive around your local terrace, you'll get a popup and when you click on it it will show all the wireless networks available from your neighbors, simply connect to it and you've free broadband, if they have it secured you'll need a password but if they don't you'll have access without them knowing, its that easy. Anyway back on track, well also install software to protect you from viruses and spyware and other hazards when connected to the internet, well also update all the patches for windows which plugs security holes that allow people to attack your pc. Some things to have ready and consider, please let us know how far your pc is from the telephone line because i may need to get some extended cable to run from the telephone line to the pc, also if its too far to run cable we might consider running a wireless network and again i may need a wireless adapter so ill need to know this in advance. Lastly with most broadband providers they will give you a username and password.If you don't have this before i arrive please ring your broadband provider and ask them for your username and password as i cannot connect without this.

Data Recovery
Most data can be recovered but the most important thing after deleting something you recover is not to save or install anything on the computer. When something is deleted it is still stored on your hard drive if there is free space but not visible any longer, when new programs are installed or files saved it can sometimes overwrite files that have been deleted if it needs the space but in most cases it can be recovered even if it was fully formatted. If you need something recovered please contact us to discuss prices. Also if windows is corrupted to the point it wont restart most if not all of your files are still recoverable, only in cases where the hard disk has been physically damaged is it not possible to recover files but even then it still is possible sometimes depending on the damage.

Remember With all my services i have a No Fix No Fee policy, So you don't have to be worried about being charged to tell you we cant fix it.


We can call out and repair the pc at your home or we do a free drop and collect service from the White Swan Cafe, Church Street, Athlone 7 days a week from 9am-4pm Monday to Thursday and 9am-5pm Friday-Sunday. Please call in advance to arrange this. Some jobs will require me to bring the tower or laptop with me, this saves me time and saves you money because some tasks like virus scanners can take 1-3 hours to run and if i was to sit and wait for it in your house i would need to charge you however when i take it home i can have it scanning while I'm fixing other computers and i don't need to charge as much. Most jobs like broadband installation and tune up's don't require this and it can be done in your home.
